What is Airthium?
Industrial processes require heat, which is generated by burning gas (causing a lot of pollution). Heat pumps are the only way to decarbonize industrial heat in a cost-effective way. But heat pumps cannot go over 180°C: above, there is no efficient way to decarbonize. At Airthium, we make a heat pump that goes up to 550°C: we will be able to decarbonize many industries (paper, food, chemistry...) at no cost. We could avoid 3% of CO2 emissions and the market is worth $13bn/year until 2050.
Business and value proposition
Airthium is a deeptech company that develops industrial heat pumps capable of breaking the limits of existing models to decarbonize theindustry.
Thirty percent of the energy consumed on Earth is dedicated to industrial heat production. A significant portion of this energy demandinvolves temperatures exceeding 200°C, which currently can only be produced by fossil fuels (coal, gas, oil).
Through its groundbreaking technology, Airthium is building heat pumps powered by renewable energy sources capable of reachingtemperatures up to 500°C. This investment promotes (i) the use of renewable energy, (ii) sustainable industrialization that benefitseveryone and encourages innovation, (iii) responsible consumption and production, and finally, (iv) a fight against climate change byreplacing fossil fuels with emission-free technologies, thus enabling a direct reduction in CO2 emissions.
