Why we invested?
Daphni is interested in investing because the team is highly complementary and capable of scaling the company, with strong leadership from Philippe, deep technical expertise, from Amira (the inventor), 8 PhDs in R&D and an experienced operations lead, Victor. Their solution requires no CAPEX for dyers, using existing machinery — a major competitive advantage — and delivers a significant environmental impact through bio-sourced materials, 10x lower energy use, and reduced water and time consumption. This aligns well with our thesis at the crossroads of sustainability and science. However, the deal has early-stage characteristics despite a mature-round structure, with limited color, fabric, and dyeing process coverage, and still needs to prove scalability and cost competitiveness. Two conditions remain: investing at a low valuation and validating the carbon impact through CarbonFacts.
