Ep 86: Julie & Édouard (Wilgo) - Reinventing academic success in the age of AI
Education, AI, and entrepreneurship: 3 key takeaways from our conversation with Julie & Édouard, co-founders of Wilgo
1. Serial entrepreneurs who think “machine” first
Julie and Édouard don't come from EdTech. And that's a strength. Their approach is deeply entrepreneurial and industrial: building a useful, free, and scalable solution, fueled by continuous feedback from the field (students, parents, teachers). Not a “pretty” app, but a tool that can truly scale and create impact.
2️. Education is undergoing a change in nature, not degree
Keeping students in school longer is no longer enough. The real challenge is no longer just the transmission of knowledge, but the development of key skills: autonomy, critical thinking, perseverance, and attitudes toward effort and failure. Their conviction: motivation is the primary lever for academic success. And that completely changes the way we think about learning.
3️. AI: both a threat... and a solution
AI is disrupting the world of work, and therefore education. But it also enables what was previously impossible: i. highly personalized learning paths, ii. individualized feedback on open-ended answers (like a teacher correcting each student's work), iii. the ability to identify root causes of gaps in knowledge using knowledge graphs.
The result: more interactive, engaging, and accurate learning.
Behind Wilgo lies a clear ambition: to democratize academic success and prepare children for a world in constant change. Well done Edouard, Julie, Louis, and Nico.
