Sailing for Solidarity, with Thibaut Vauchel-Camus (Solidaires en Peloton)
“No one does anything alone; there’s nothing more accompanied than a solo sailor.”
Ready to set sail? Today, Sophie and Paul take us on board with Thibaut Vauchel-Camus, a skipper who decided to put his passion at the service of a human and solidarity-driven project.
From competitors to project partners, Thibaut and Victorien Erussard were moved by the daily challenges faced by people living with multiple sclerosis, and that’s how the project “Défi Voile Solidaires en Peloton” was born. Together, they have been braving the waves for over 10 years, raising both awareness and funds for the ARSEP Foundation.
Multiple sclerosis affects 2.8 million people worldwide, including 110,000 in France, with more than two-thirds being women.
Thibaut grew up in Guadeloupe and became an adopted son of Saint-Malo—making the legendary Route du Rhum race seem destined for him. He first joined as a spectator, then as a substitute, then as a commentator, before finally competing in 2014. But in 2022, during his third participation, things didn’t go as planned… Yet he emerged stronger, motivated, and more determined than ever for future projects!
