911 Climate : It's Time to Adapte

Hi folks,

🌍Every year, we see the ever-increasing consequences of climate change: heatwaves, droughts, fires… There’s no denying the need to reduce our emissions (known as mitigation). However, it will be very difficult to tip the balance. That’s why, even with a +2°C scenario, we’re going to have to change elements of our environment to be able to adapt, which is what we call climate adaptation.

❓But then what will we have to change?

Adaptation is nothing new in the minds of scientists but it has long been the neglected relative of public debates and investments. As a reminder, adaptation is one of the objectives of the European Green Taxonomy, and the latest IPCC report has highlighted the key issues concerning transport, buildings, coastlines, agriculture… we must rethink our new projects and solutions in light of resilience.

To provide solutions for resilience, entrepreneurs have also taken up the subject. For several years now, we’ve been seeing the emergence of startups and projects featuring innovative technologies to meet current and future needs (some on them are mentioned in the article below 👇).
Whether they are pure solutions or enablers, our role as a VC is to spot the most viable projects and support them in creating the right approach.

🗞 Let’s stay optimistic, folks! Nothing is lost in advance, and these ever-increasing innovations are proof of that. Damien Didier, our ESG manager, has written a detailed article on Adaptation: the blind spot in the fight against climate change.

And if you want to delve deeper into the subject of adaptation, the first category of our press review is for you (yes, it’s a new part!).👇

Da yours,
